CBL, Mister Ri-, H, Lah-di-dah, and Dad
Published by martyn.jones March 30th, 2006 in MartynHad that meeting with CBL today. I think it went well. Told her why I hadn’t gone for the team leader role (I know I can do it, I managed a restaurant for a year, therefore the challenge just isn’t there. In addition, a six month secondment and no guarantee of a payrise at the end of it is not my idea of fun…) and the training role (I was a trainer for four years in Japan and there I came to realise that the only progression in that role was to “senior” trainer and with it a payrise and more of the same monotonous repetition…)
I told her I wanted to do more business process, trouble-shooting things. I mentioned that I like project based stuff. She asked what would suit me best and I said I usually like things that other people don’t like doing and I’m a dab hand at picking up the pieces where other people have failed to deliver… I said I don’t sing and dance about things, but I work quietly in the background and get things done. My fingers are now crossed, but I will not be holding my breath. Ah yes, and I applied for the Health & Safety Officer role too today, with CBL’s blessing…
Oh yeah, Leigh MSNd a few days back. It was the 27th. The olde bugger’s birthday! He’s back in Wales after giving Zurich a bash for 6 weeks and will probably be moving back to Japan at the tail end of this year. We need to meet in a pub somewhere and get like we used to… Don’t think I’d be able to afford it though, and the pubs round here don’t stay open til the sun comes up anyway!
H emailed. Might be meeting him and Mr Lah-di-dah on the weekend in McArthur Glen… I think I met them more when I was living in Japan than when I live about 15 miles away… Strange world…
Dad came over and we had a nice chat.
