Another day…
Published by martyn.jones February 23rd, 2006 in MartynYay! I am now the future proud owner of an Edo period, real life, probably killed lots of people, Katana - that’s a Samurai Sword to the uninitiated. Otousan bought it from an antiques dealer somewhere in Kyushu and has bequeathed it to me. I’d like to say “I can’t wait”, but that would be a little bit morbid…
Anyway, sanded down yesterday’s polyfiller and stained a few things… To be continued tomorrow…
Phoned some freight companies to see about sending the excess luggage over to Japan. Air Cargo Wales’ £260.00 ish is the one we’re going for. Everything’s now packed and ready to go; just have to get it to the airport now.
Got a text from Lou asking for a report on developments: Nothing to report as yet, Lou, but, after all that’s happened over the last few days, I think the worst place for me to be would be work. I’m finding it difficult enough to concentrate on the myriad of mediocrity I have to occupy me at home. If I went to work and got a phonecall from Miho again, I assure you I’d be a veritable liablity. I’ll keep myself quietly occupied until I get the nod and then, after a life changing couple of hours (fingers crossed), I’ll be able to relax, have a pint, and put my feet up, while cuddling our new bundle of joy… That’s the plan at least!
Miki’s 25th birthday party was funny. The Jones tradition of purposely singing “Happy Birthday” out of rhythm and key was observed. To be perfectly honest, it was probably one of the worst renditions of “Happy Birthday” ever, only to be topped by “Penblwydd Hapus” with everyone singing it in Welsh, bar Gampa, who gallantly gave us a flat English version. This was then topped by the kids speaking Welsh to Miki, probably because they know she can’t understand English…! What a great night…
Oh yeah! Thanks to young Halliwell giving me a nudge sending me an email, I am seriously considering adding comments functionality to this blog. One step at a time though, one step at a time… I’ve got a birth to think about first.
Please do let me know what you think about this suggestion… it may force it up the pecking order a tad, if I get some positive feedback.
